Friendly, approachable and with a good sense of humour!

I started Pilates classes myself over twenty years ago after debilitating back pain (sacroilliac joint) mostly due to carrying three big babies and not slowing down. I’d also suffered a bad disc herniation at the age of 18. Being sporty, especially playing and coaching hockey, training junior rugby players and having a very busy life, I ended up having all sorts of aches and pains. And then I discovered Pilates my world improved…

Pilates was a joy!

My friend had qualified when Pilates first emerged from dance and I loved the indulgence of that time in class - the need to breathe, to centre and to be present in each movement. It was so good to destress and unwind. I also liked the social life it brought me as week after week, I’d look forward to seeing friendly faces.

I trained to become a Pilates Instructor

Through Pilates Training Solutions I qualified as a L3 Matwork Instructor in 2009, which enabled me to work one to one with GP referrals as well as run general classes. I’ve worked ever since and continue to develop and explore various ways Pilates can help specific populations including specific back and health conditions, such as through the ‘BuffBones Instructor Training’ in 2018 which targets clients with osteoporosis.

It’s so important to maintain our bodies all through our lives and I really enjoy teaching people aged in their 20s to mid-80s. As we hear more and more stories of the downside of modern life - more joint problems, more diabetes, more obesity, it’s vital to continue to exercise.
